Friends of the Library Continue Fundraising Efforts in Spite of Pandemic

Updated: Dec 16, 2020

The doors to the physical library may be closed, but that hasn't stopped the San Benito County Free Library from offering programs to the community. Programs that are ongoing include including online art programs and other digital outreach, bilingual story time via Zoom, and curbside pick up of library materials.

Nor has it stopped the Friends of the Library from its goal of supporting programs that enrich the community. The Friends recently held an online auction fundraiser, which replaced their Tea and Treasures event which was not able to be held this year.

16 baskets were auctioned off online, raising over $1,200 that will be used to support library programs. Just before the Pandemic, many local businesses were generous with their donations which were used to create the gift baskets.

Not skipping a beat, the Friends also participated in the Community Foundation's San Benito Gives Virtual Fundraiser. The Friends created two large gift baskets that were available for bidding online during the Community Foundation auction.

Monies raised will also support the many programs benefiting the communities of San Benito County via the Library.

The Friends of the San Benito County would like to thank all of our partners and generous donors, including Eden Rift Vineyards, Joshua Inn Bed & Breakfast, the Community Foundation for San Benito County, and everyone who participated in our National Friends of Libraries Week Auction and the Community Foundation's San Benito Gives Community Auction.
