Summer Reading Rocks

Summer reading programs have been implemented across the United States for years as a way to help reduce summer slump. Often times when children take such a long leave from school they can fall behind, or lose the momentum that they've gained during the school year. This is especially problematic with younger children who are developing skills and honing in on their learning. The San Benito County Free Library with the support of the Friends of the Library have worked together to make sure that kids in San Benito County don't fall behind. This year's national theme is "Read to the Rhythm," and San Benito's kids did just that.

Thanks to all of the families who participated and thanks to the community for supporting such an important program at the library. Here we see the Friends of the Library's very own Rebecca Salinas meeting with eager summer readers: Sandra Espinoza, Jana Saldana, Megan Fulford, Dakota and Brooke Gomes and the McClaffin siblings. Thanks again readers!
