On Saturday, November 27th, the Friends of the San Benito County Free Library decorated a holiday tree for the Hollister Downtown Association's annual Dec-A-Tree project. 30 holiday trees are provided by Bourdet's Christmas Tree Farm to be decorated by local nonprofits and then donated to families in need in San Benito County. This year's theme was "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year!"

Our first book sale back was a huge success! A big "thank you" to all who attended and helped! LULAC Youth began a project to prepare Christmas stockings full of gifts for low income kids with their advisors Vince Luna, Eirasema Weaver and Riana Guitierrez. They are planning to deliver them to the farmworker housing at the Villa Luna Apartments. They approached Friends of the Library to see if we could include some books in the stockings. We didn't have enough of the books in the right age groups, so we approached Nora Conte, of the San Benito County Free Libr
The Friends of the Library, San Benito County Free Library staff, and Meadowlark Preschool students, teachers, and staff partnered in creating beautiful stained glass holiday ornaments for the Hollister Downtown Association's annual Dec-A-Tree program. Library staff worked with Meadowlark preschoolers via Zoom on creating the ornaments and also provided a story time. The doors to the physical library may be closed, but that hasn't stopped the San Benito County Free Library from offering programs to the community. Programs that are ongoing include including online art programs and other digital outreach, bilingual story time via Zoom, and curbside pick up of library materials.
